Visual e .NET Universal Product Configurator

The Visual e .NET Universal Product Configurator (VUPC) is a tool that can be used at quoting, order entry, engineering, and manufacturing time to translate a customer's requirements into your company's specifications using your own item numbers and terminology.  If fully utilized, the VUPC will assure that allowable selections of features and options meet your engineering constraints.  The end results obtained from the VUPC will produce a quotation or order line item that fully conforms to the end customer's requirements.  A Bill of Material is internally prepared for the purpose of manufacturing or the selection of items needed to pull from shipments.  Complete cost and total selling price is also available during the quotation and/or order entry process.

This is an intelligent model configurator program.  Prior configurations are tracked so they can be used in the future when similar configurations are required.  The Visual e .NET Universal Product Configurator was designed around the concept of a product template that would contain a list of all major features and options.  Acting much like an automobile model, the template or model number could then be entered into the system in order to generate an inventory of the specific options and/or accessories available.  The order taker would then translate the customer's requirements into an order by selecting the appropriate options.

Since the engineering is performed only once when the model is initially defined, subsequent review is reduced or eliminated entirely from the process.  The material planning and manufacturing organization is presented along with a custom-configured Bill of Material to aid in the ordering and production of the customer's order.  And by integrating and thus simplifying these processes, the chance of error is also reduced dramatically.
