.NET!

The latest enhancement to the Visual e product was to upgrade it to .NET.   What we have done is to take advantage of Microsoft's numerous enhancements providing a manage code environment.  The change to .NET was easy for us to perform because we use Microsoft's Visual Studio development tool.

With the introduction of .NET by Microsoft, a great amount of confusion has been created about which product to use for what solution.

Visual e .NET  is most widely used for business-to-business and  back office solutions.  Visual e .NET is built upon and uses Microsoft's .NET Windows technology.  Visual e .NET works in the same manner as a Microsoft WinForms.NET solution, and uses the presentation layer concept of an Internet browser.  However, Visual e .NET is more cost affective.  Development cost is reduced by a factor of 5 to 1 because of the ease of use and reduced ongoing maintenance time.

Picking up the groceries at the corner store with a Mac truck and trailer will work, but wouldn't a car work just as well?  Selecting the right product for the right job is an important decision that companies must make today.  The ASP.NET solution is great for information retrieval and home shopping cart type application.  WinForms.NET can support business-to-business and back office solutions for any SQL ADO.NET compliant database, and serial access files. Note: Some multivalue databases do support the ADO.NET

Before You Decide!

bulletDo you really need to replace your multivalue database just to enter the Windows presentation layer concept?

bulletDo you need the heavy development cost of WinForms.NET?

bulletDo you want the extra effort of maintaining executable code on every workstation?

bulletDoes the non persistent connection meet your processing requirements?

Visual e .NET is the right choice if you answered "no" to any of the questions above for a solution to your business-to-business and back-office solutions.  Keep in mind that the WinForms.NET solution can be co-mingled with the Visual e .NET solution.
